Tim Smith
Tim has been with the orchard for 36 years and is the current owner/operator. In addition to managing and working the orchard, Tim is also a beekeeper. He has many hives that produce honey that we sell in our store. The bees also provide great pollination for the all of the apple blossoms. In his spare time, when he has any, Tim enjoys cooking, fishing and traveling.
Dorothy Smith
In 1956, Dorothy returned to her family farm with her husband, Mike Smith. She had been farming here ever since! Although she didn't take an active role in orchard work later in life, she still kept track of what we were doing on a daily basis. Dorothy was very interested in the new store and asked constantly when we will begin serving her favorite treat, ice cream! Dorothy passed away on March 12th 2019, she is missed dearly by the entire farm, our community and customers.
Courtney Basil
Courtney began working for the orchard in 2010 while pursuing a degree in Social Science at Greenfield Community College. She later completed her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from WSU. A native of Conway, she felt right at home working here in the foothills of Western MA. She discovered her love of farming here and was able to expand her skillset as a farmer with guidance, and lots of patience, from Tim. In 2015, she stepped into the role of Manager and currently manages our Farm Store, local Farmers Markets and operations on the Farm. In her spare time she enjoys growing sunflowers for the farm, vegetable gardening, traveling and hanging out with her family and two dogs, Lady & Beau. Courtney and Tim will be joining ownership of the farm and Courtney plans to continue the Apex legacy for the next generation!
Sam Cornish
Sam has been with the farm for 5 seasons and she is a Jill of All Trades! She helps in our warehouse with packing fruit, she is a friendly face at the local farmer's market's, she operates tractors and forklifts, she partakes in pruning and other critical orchard work, she ensures wholesale customers receive orders....She. Does. It. All! Sam studied sustainable food and farming at GCC which has helped her grow here on the farm. She has always had a love for the outdoors and feels right at home living in the hilltowns of Western MA. In her spare time she enjoys being outside, spending time with friends and family and kayaking.
Dominique Beausoleil
Dominique graduated from GCC in 2017 with an associate degree in Office Management. She applies her management skills to create beautiful events at the Farm Store. She loves bringing people together and seeing them enjoy the events she coordinates. Dominique is looking forward to working with couples on their wedding ceremony or elopement plans here at the farm! She also has a passion for graphic design, growing Dahlias, baking, and most of all enjoys spending time with her two children.
Țara Lenahan
With over 30 years of experience in customer service oriented experiences, Tara brings confidence and kindness to every customer who visits our Farm Store, and never without a smile! She loves to help people, even if that is just choosing the best apple for a pie! Outside of helping to manage the farm store, Tara is also a vocalist/musician. She has many years of experience with photography, hand-lettering art, painting and textiles. She is officially our staff sign maker and has some of her own art on display! She looks forward to many seasons to come at the farm!
Lloyd Coke
Lloyd celebrated his 50th and final year on the Apex Farm! Lloyd has been a critical member of the Apex Crew and not only has he performed every job here on the farm but he is also well known in the community, making him a great asset to Apex. Many of our regular customers know Lloyd as a familiar and friendly face who is always smiling. Lloyd is from a town called Darliston in Westmoreland Jamaica. When home, Lloyd farms a variety of crops including Irish potatoes, corn, pumpkins and zucchini. When Lloyd isn’t farming, he enjoys spending time with his wife, 5 children and 10 grandchildren.
Lloyd Williams
Lloyd passed away surrounded by his family in Jamaica this year, he will be missed dearly. Lloyd retired from working at Apex after 34 years and we feel so very fortunate to have had him as art of our team for so many years. Lloyd also comes from Darliston in Westmoreland Jamaica, and is a neighbor of Lloyd Coke. He and his wife run a small bar in Jamaica. He is also a farmer and produces crops of banana, sweet potato and Irish potatoes. Lloyd also raises goats and in his spare time he enjoys spending time with his wife, 3 children and 6 grandchildren.
Bobby Sawyers
Bobby has been working at the orchard since 1996 and celebrates his 20th year here. Bobby can most often be found driving a tractor or other piece of equipment. During our busy fall picking season he transports all the bins of apples from the picking crew to our storage facility. Bobby also lives and farms in the Green Pond district in Manchester, Jamaica. He raises crops such as yams, oranges and sugar cane.
Delroy Samuels
Delroy passed away in Jamaica, surrounded by his loving family, in January 2021. He is deeply missed and forever remembered. Delroy had been with the farm since 1994. With vast knowledge and experience he was a jack of all trades here at the orchard as he could do almost any task. Delroy was a skilled carpenter and mason worker. He lived in the Green Pond District in Manchester, Jamaica. Delroy also farmed a variety of crops including oranges and coffee. His son Jermaine, has since joined the Apex Team and we couldn't be happier to have him join us on the farm each season, as his father did for so many years.
Godfry Simpson
Godfrey had been with us for over 20 years and assists in our fall picking later in the season. He comes from Clarendon Jamaica and is also a farmer. His son wants to work on the farm and we hope he will be able to join us in 2022!
Linford Calvin
Linford had been working at the orchard since 1997 and also would come for our fall picking season. Similar to the Lloyd’s, he comes from Westmoreland, Jamaica. Linford retired in 2022 and we wish him the best in his retirement.
